What is the fourth trimester? The fourth trimester is your baby's first three months of life. Having a newborn can be exciting and exhausting, and our postpartum services are designed to help! Many questions arise during the postpartum period. Why does my baby cry all the time? Why am I feeling like this? Is my baby eating enough? Sleeping enough? When do I get to sleep? Do I get to sleep?

Every website you visit will have a different answer. Every parent you ask will have a different opinion. Even recommendations from different care providers can vary. Postpartum doulas help you make decisions by providing you evidence-based information and nonjudgmental support. Birth and Beyond's postpartum doulas allow you and your family peace of mind and they are available day and night, providing you with a variety of scheduling options.

Allow us to take care of your day-to-day duties, so you have time to rest, recover, and enjoy your new baby!

What Exactly Does A
Postpartum Doula Do?

  • Feeding: Breast, bottle, or formula - we can help! Fed is best and Birth and Beyond's postpartum doulas support you with the choice you make for your family. Although we do not make the decision for you, we provide you with the information and tools you need to make the best decision for your family.

  • Sleeping: Every human needs sleep, especially new families! Part of the role of a postpartum doula is to facilitate rest by encouraging healthy sleeping habits for you and your baby. Postpartum doulas are available overnight and during the day for this reason. We want you to feel like you can rest, because you can.

  • Family and Self-Care: For both yourself and your family, physical and emotional care are important. We can help you with the daily questions that arise with newborns, but we are also able to answer any questions related to your postpartum recovery, including encouraging rest!

  • Household Management: You just made planet Earth the home to a new human being. Why worry about laundry, dishes, sweeping, and walking the dog? Let us worry about the little things. We will take care of these things for you, so you can bond with your new baby, or take the time to rest! (Do you see a theme here?)

  • Referrals: As postpartum doulas, we act within our scope. We are proud of the time we have taken to develop positive relationships with providers in our community. We make referrals often, and we are always happy to do so for anything you might need. We have included a variety of specialists in our community resource list to ensure comprehensive care for you and your family.
