Your pregnancy test was positive and the news is out to your family and friends. We are confident you have been on "Dr. Google" or What To Expect. Maybe you know exactly where and how you want to birth, and maybe you don't know where to start. In either case, your birth doula is here to support you. Of the many (or the few) individuals on your birth team, a birth doula is one of the most resourceful for both yourself and your family. Birth doulas provide evidence-based, unbiased support from start to finish through three channels: informational, emotional, and physical.

During your pregnancy and labor, your birth doula is available to you for emotional and informational support. When you decide you are ready for continuous physical support, your doula will remain by your side through delivery. During the two hours after delivery, your birth doula will help you facilitate skin to skin contact, make sure you have everything you need to rest, and help you feed your baby for the first time in whichever manner you feel is necessary. Fed is best! Your birth doula will also check in with you regularly for a few days after your baby is born.

At Birth And Beyond,
Our Birth Doulas Provide:

  • Physical Support: You birth doula's goal is to make you as comfortable as possible during labor. Birth and Beyond's doulas are trained in utilizing a wide variety of comfort measures for various births included cesarean births, unmedicated births, water births, births with epidurals, and induced births.

  • Informational Support: Your birth doula understands you are being given a lot of information. They provide you with evidence-based information to help you make the best decisions for yourself and your baby. From prenatal testing, to laboring options, your birth doula will provide you with the information you need.

  • Emotional Support: Emotions and hormones can vary during pregnancy, labor, and childbirth. Your birth doula is trained to actively listen to you and your family's needs and provide reassurance from start to finish. Your birth doula can also be a good resource for providing emotional support to you and your partner.

This is an experience you will remember, and we want you to be able to reflect on it happily. Our support is designed with your birthing goals in mind.
